Interior Design Bloggers Conference

The first week of March, 2014 my friend Pam Nellis and I headed south to Atlanta to the Interior Design Bloggers Conference.

Spring was teasing us with sunshine,  warm weather, and red tulips blooming next to yellow daffodils.  We were ready to enjoy our plush room at the Hyatt Grand Hotel in Buckhead, basking in the sun while sitting in the chaise lounges on our 22 floor balcony.  The day after our arrival the temperature dropped 20 degrees, the wind was howling and to top it all off it rained the whole time we were there. It was all for the best, there was so much to see, hear and absorb from the talented and creative line-up waiting for us in the grand ballroom conference venue downstairs.

We were 350 (mostly) women excited and motivated to learn, share, and to encourage each other to spread as much beauty and knowledge of good design with each other and through the media.  Candice Olson was the keynote speaker, and a rock star in the interior design world.  She describes her design philosophy as blending edgy sophistication to more traditional spaces.  Her attention to detail integrates contrasts including smooth vs. textures, minimal vs. adorned, natural vs. man-made, pattern vs. solid.  All of these harmonizing into what she refers to as an easy elegance.

We were exposed to new applications for familiar fabrics like Sunbrella, shown the latest color pallets from Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams, introduced to the exciting line of Chalk Paint, many furniture and decorative accessories vendors and interior design tools to keep up organized and connected to vendors to better serve our clients.

I am excited to be bringing you the latest in what is trending blended with the comfort and warmth of the familiar to help you create your own easy elegance with style and substance.

 Warmly,
